Hadith No. 10 – Sahih al-Bukhari
Salam,
Bismillah.
Self-control is awesome. Actually, the feeling you get when you see its results is more awesome. Those who read yesterday’s post know what I mean. ;)
Today’s Hadith is almost the same as yesterday’s. We’ll look at it in a different perspective though.
Narrated Abu Musa:
Some people asked Allah’s Apostle, “Whose Islam is the best? i.e. (Who is a very good Muslim)?” He replied, “One who avoids harming the Muslims with his tongue and hands.”
If you’re wondering why the same Hadith is repeated twice in Sahih al-Bukhari, let me tell you this: one Hadith may be repeated numerous times in this book with a slight change in words/chain of narrators. You’ll see it happen a LOT later. =)
Coming to the Hadith.. Prophet (SAW) was asked: ‘Whose ISLAM is the best?’ And the very precise answer was: ‘One who avoids harming the Muslims with his tongue and hands.’
So, this definition is derived from it:
Best Muslim: One who avoids harming other Muslims with his tongue and hands.
How hard can it be? Keeping others safe from your hands and tongue..? All you need is self-control. ;)
This should be enough as motivation: BEST Muslim here is according to Allah’s standards. People have much lower ones. So, if we can be the best in Allah’s eyes by doing so less, what stops us? What more do we need?
Wassalam.
