Hadith No. 11 – Sahih al-Bukhari
Salam,
Bismillah.
Do you cook? The answer will definitely be a ‘yes’ after reading this Hadith. =)
Narrated ‘Abdullah bin ‘Amr:
A man asked the Prophet (SAW), “What sort of deeds or (what qualities of) Islam are good?” The Prophet replied, ‘To feed (people) and greet those whom you know and those whom you do not know’.
Two things: feeding others + saying Salam.
Now if you can’t cook anything, you can get your name in this list by helping in cooking/setting the dining table etc.
Salam is ‘Assalamu ‘alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuhu’: Peace and Allah’s Mercy + blessings be upon you.
It’s a dua for the person you’re passing by or going to talk to. What do you get? 30 hasanaat (good deeds).
If you say ‘Assalamu ‘alaykum wa rahmatullah’, you get 20 hasanaat.
And if you say ‘Assalamu ‘alaykum’, you get 10 hasanaat.
So it’s your choice.
I’m off to make popcorn for my sister. What’s cookin’ at your end? :)
Wassalam.
