Hadith No. 21 – Sahih al-Bukhari
Salam,
Bismillah.
Wonder why we skipped a Hadith? 21 after 19? Well, a lot of Ahadith are repeated in Bukhari because one Hadith may cover a lot of subjects. So, we’ll skip the ones that are repeated.
Yesterday, we talked about guilt and its consequences. Sins lead to guilt, and eventually Hell. But Allah’s Mercy will still be on the believers on the Day of Judgement. This is how:
Narrated Abu Said Al-Khudri:
The Prophet said, “When the people of Paradise will enter Paradise and the people of Hell will go to Hell, Allah will order those who have had faith equal to the weight of a grain of mustard seed to be taken out from Hell. So they will be taken out but (by then) they will be blackened (charred). Then they will be put in the river of Haya’ (rain) or Hayat (life) (the Narrator is in doubt as to which is the right term), and they will revive like a grain that grows near the bank of a flood channel. Don’t you see that it comes out yellow and twisted?”
Anyone with belief the size of a mustard seed will be taken out of Hell. That’s how Merciful Allah is. But, should we go on disobeying Allah knowing that one day we’ll come out of Hell? Because we’re Muslims? Islam and Faith are a bit different, you see. Every believer can be a Muslim, but every Muslim need not be a believer as well. Faith lies in the hearts, and Islam represents it. The beliefs we have are Faith, and our ‘Ibadaat (worships) are Islam. Hope you understand the difference. =)
My point is, the Hadith says, that anyone with ‘Faith’ will be taken out of Hell, not every ‘Muslim’. Because there might be a lot of people who offer Salah, fast in Ramadan, give Zakah, but they’re not believers. They don’t have ‘Faith’ in their hearts. Either they’re doubtful or just heedless. What is Faith, then? How to know if ‘I’ have Faith? Read all my previous 13 posts on Kitab-ul-Imaan and you’ll know. These Ahadith tell us what Faith is.
So this is today’s target: check yourself. Do I have all the qualities that are mentioned in the previous Ahadith (7-19)?
P.S. at the end f Kitab-ul-Imaan, I’ll make a sort of a mind map/diagram on Faith, so it’s ll in one place, inshaAllah.
Wassalam.
