Hadith No. 23 – Sahih al-Bukhari

Salam,

Bismillah.

About checking and rechecking our Imaan.. remember modesty? Rather Haya? How successful am I in making myself modest. For me, that’s a tough question, and a very important one.

Volume 1, Book 2, Number 23:

Narrated ‘Abdullah (bin ‘Umar):

Once Allah’s Apostle passed by an Ansari (man) who was admonishing to his brother regarding Haya’. On that Allah’s Apostle said, “Leave him, as Haya’ is a part of Faith.” (See Hadith No. 8)

This person who was admonishing his brother regarding Haya was trying to tell his brother to be a little less modest. Maybe he thought it was against manhood.

The lesson here is, no amount of Haya is enough. The more, the better. Because it is directly proportional to Imaan. And Imaan knows no bounds.

I’m thinking of ways to increase Haya. Can you come up with something?

Wassalam.

  1. i loved it when you said ‘its directly propotional to imaan’

  2. When I read your blog, I was quickly reminded of my daddi’s pearls of wisdom; she says you ought to walk through the world like you would through thorned bushes, making sure your clothes don’t get stuck in the thorny hedges. only then you can be modest, by guarding your body/clothes from those worldy sins (like thorns) you can make it out, if you are careless once, first sin (thorn) will lead you to another sin and likewise, ure entangled in a mesh of thorns.

    lovely post! thanks for sharing
    JazakAllah!
