Hadith No. 30 – Sahih al-Bukhari
Salam,
Bismillah.
وَإِن طَائِفَتَانِ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ اقْتَتَلُوا فَأَصْلِحُوا بَيْنَهُمَا
And if two parties or groups among the believers fall to fighting, then make peace between them both.
Allah has called them ‘believers’.
Narrated Al-Ahnaf bin Qais:
While I was going to help this man (‘Ali Ibn Abi Talib), Abu Bakra met me and asked, “Where are you going?” I replied, “I am going to help that person.” He said, “Go back for I have heard Allah’s Apostle saying, ‘When two Muslims fight (meet) each other with their swords, both the murderer as well as the murdered will go to the Hell-fire.’ I said, ‘O Allah’s Apostle! It is all right for the murderer but what about the murdered one?’ Allah’s Apostle replied, “He surely had the intention to kill his companion.”
There’s been much talk on intentions. Actions will be judged according to them. We shall look at this Hadith in another perspective inshaAllah.
Making peace.
We’re humans, prone to mistakes and misunderstandings. But as believers, we’re supposed to live in harmony with each other. A believer doesn’t harm others by his hands or tongue. So whenever a spark occurs between two brothers, make peace between them.
You know why it’s important? Quran orders us to do so (verse quoted on top). And we get to know from a Hadith, that when people are fighting amongst each other, Allah takes away the ‘khayr’ (good, blessing, mercy) from them. We don’t want that happening, do we?
Wassalam.
