Hadith No. 42 – Sahih al-Bukhari
Salam,
Bismillah.
I’m a Muslim.
I’ll definitely go to Heaven.
God will forgive me my sins because He is the Most Merciful.
Do you get these promising thoughts? I don’t. And if I do, I don’t entertain them. Read today’s Hadith, I’ll tell you why..
Narrated Anas:
The Prophet said, ‘Whoever said “None has the right to be worshiped but Allah” and has in his heart good (faith) equal to the weight of a barley grain will be taken out of Hell. And whoever said: “None has the right to be worshiped but Allah” and has in his heart good (faith) equal to the weight of a wheat grain will be taken out of Hell. And whoever said, “None has the right to be worshiped but Allah” and has in his heart good (faith) equal to the weight of an atom will be taken out of Hell.’
Now, you might say I ‘should’ entertain such thoughts because the Holy Prophet (SAW) guarantees us Paradise. And he said it thrice. But did you have a good look at his words? I’d like you to read the text again and focus on these words: FAITH, HELL..
There are two conditions mentioned here for being taken out of Hell:
- Saying “None has the right to be worshiped but Allah”
- And having Faith in heart
Anyone may fulfill the first condition. But what about the second one? What is Imaan/Faith? How to know if I have it in my heart? We’re going through Kitaab-ul-Imaan of Bukhari to get to know this. So keep in touch! :)
Secondly, the Hadith says: “..will be taken out of Hell.”
Yes, Muslims will go to Hell. The disobedient ones. But my question is this: are you ready to go to Hell? Is disobeying Allah worth going through such severe pain and torment? Why do we take it so lightly? “Oh we’ll get out of there some day!”. Do you even know the length of one day in Hell? If you did, you’d never dare to entertain such promising thoughts.
So, I’ve diagnosed the problem: lack of knowledge.
And the solution is: GAIN KNOWLEDGE! And authentic, for that matter. Get to know about Islam, what Allah requires from us Muslims, what is the Day of Judgement and what is Hell and Paradise.
And what better source of knowledge than the Word of God Himself – Quran? And His revelations to the Prophet (SAW) – Hadith?
Scholars have done their work. Everything is out there. Consult books or the internet. But be careful. Only go for the AUTHENTIC stuff. And inshaAllah, you’ll find that there was an ocean of real knowledge that you were unaware of.
May Allah guide us all to the right path and take us to Jannah on a direct ticket, not via Jahannam! Ameen.
Wassalm.
