Even If It Were a Morsel (Hadith No. 53)
Salam,
Bismillah.
Narrated Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas:
Allah’s Apostle said, “You will be rewarded for whatever you spend for Allah’s sake even if it were a morsel which you put in your wife’s mouth.”
My personal experience: men don’t think spending on their families will bring them any reward. Isn’t that weird. To me, it is!
Like we discussed in yesterday’s post, spending on your own family is also rewarded as charity. It only needs to be for Allah’s sake though. Sincerity is a condition.
Another important thing today’s Hadith tells us is: the quantity doesn’t matter. Even if it were a morsel! Meaning, you don’t need to be rich to do charity. If you have on date, and you eat half of it and share the other half with someone, that’s also sadaqah/charity! Quality will be in your intention and that will determine your reward. :)
Thinking of doing some extra sadaqah/charity in these golden days (Dhil-Hajj)? Spend on your family!
Wassalam.
