Are You Bored? (Hadith No. 70)
Salam,
Bismillah.
Narrated Abu Wail:
‘Abdullah used to give a religious talk to the people on every Thursday. Once a man said, “O Aba ‘Abdur-Rahman! (By Allah) I wish if you could preach us daily.” He replied, “The only thing which prevents me from doing so, is that I hate to bore you, and no doubt I take care of you in preaching by selecting a suitable time just as the Prophet used to do with us, for fear of making us bored.”
‘Abdullah (RA) used to give ‘religious talks’. It was a weekly thing and is called wa’z (preaching). Ta’leem (education) is different. It has to be done regularly and very strictly. So you can’t say school is boring. The religious talks that are held weekly/twice a week in your neighborhood or nearby Masjid cannot happen on a regular basis because of this very reason: people tend to get bored and run away from it.
If you’re a preacher, keep this in mind. If you attend such lectures, rejoice. Prophet (SAW) cared about your moods! :)
Wassalam.
