‘Good’ (Hadith No. 71)
Salam,
Bismillah.
What’s your definition of ‘good’? What exactly do you feel when someone does ‘good’ to you?
Dictionary.com says:
good (noun) = excellence or merit; kindness
I heard Allah’s Apostle saying, “If Allah wants to do good to a person, He makes him comprehend the religion. I am just a distributor, but the grant is from Allah. (And remember) that this nation (true Muslims) will keep on following Allah’s teachings strictly and they will not be harmed by any one going on a different path till Allah’s order (Day of Judgment) is established.”
Humans’s’ good’ is faulty; either temporary or imperfect. Imagine Allah doing ‘good’ to people. What will His ‘good’ be like? :O
One form of this perfect ‘good’ is religious comprehension. Note: NOT religious ‘knowledge’ per se! Obviously, comprehension will come as a result of knowledge. But it’s a two-step thing. Knowledge AND comprehension. Get it?
So to ask Allah for this good, pray:
اللھمّ فقھنی فی الدین
Oh Allah! Grant me comprehension in religion.
Wassalam!
