Save Your Heels! (Hadith No. 164)

Bismillah.

Winter isn’t over. Yet! Doing wudu is hard right? Folding up the sleeves… Feeling the cold on your arms… Goosebumps. Brr!
If this is true for you, here’s a question: do you make sure all your wudu-body-parts are properly wet? Especially the heels? Well you should because Prophet (SAW) said to ‘save your heels’.

Volume 1, Book 4, Number 164:

Narrated ‘Abdullah bin ‘Amr:

The Prophet remained behind us on a journey. He joined us while we were performing ablution for the ‘Asr prayer which was over-due and we were just passing wet hands over our feet (not washing them thoroughly) so he addressed us in a loud voice saying twice or thrice, “Save your heels from the fire.”

So be you careful! Save your heels from fire.

Volume 1, Book 4, Number 163:

Narrated Abu Huraira:

Allah’s Apostle said, “If anyone of you performs ablution he should put water in his nose and then blow it out and whoever cleans his private parts with stones should do so with odd numbers. And whoever wakes up from his sleep should wash his hands before putting them in the water for ablution, because nobody knows where his hands were during sleep.”

So, wash your hands before doing anything else with them. And you’ve understood the reason, I hope. :)
