The One Who Was and Will Always Be

I wonder when I look above

With a sigh of love

At the starry sky, with tears of joy

When will this life come to an end?

For I can’t wait and I want to see

The ONE who was and will always be

Night Sky

It’s true this life does have a reason

But the world for me is still a prison

So no wonder what I have in here

That void inside will always be

For I can’t wait and I want to see

The ONE who was and will always be

I try to avoid it but I end up sinning

My heart feels heavy and my head starts spinning

If this is the pain I feel in this world

Then how harsh would the hell fire be

The thought of it makes me hate myself

But despair of HIS mercy I’ll never be

For I can’t wait and I want to see

The ONE who was and will always be

So I turn to HIM, put my head on the ground

My lost soul as if suddenly found

His remembrance puts my heart at peace

And brings a happy thought to mind

If this is the satisfaction of this world

How much pleasure one would in the Heaven find?

And then I can’t wait and I want to see

The ONE who was and will always be

By the way, have you read Ammar AlShukry’s post on his trip into the wild to look at the starry sky as he couldn’t see it in the city? It wasn’t a poem but somehow your poem brought that to mind. I’ll share the link if I can find it, inshaAllah.

    • Ameen. Yes I’ve read this, I saw the link you’ve given below. It was pretty amazing I remember.
And no sister, it is only Allah who gives me the words I honestly don’t know how I come up with them suddenly. May HE make me better and better in Taqwa too! Ameen!

P.S. Here in GIKI you can see millions of stars every night. I’ve seen shooting stars many times because the view is just HUGE and there is almost no pollution here. So Alhamdulillah we have some things which people have to travel for. This sky isn’t the same in Lahore or ISB.

  5. You just nailed it! So beautiful Ma sha’ Allah!

  6. Ma sha’ Allah! Simply amaaazingg.. :D
