Oppression and Injustice (Hadith No. 2117)

Bismillah.

Kitaab-ul-Mazaalim [Book of Oppressions] starts today..

Allah says in Surah Ibraheem (v. 42 – 47):

وَلَا تَحْسَبَنَّ اللَّهَ غَافِلًا عَمَّا يَعْمَلُ الظَّالِمُونَ ۚ إِنَّمَا يُؤَخِّرُهُمْ لِيَوْمٍ تَشْخَصُ فِيهِ الْأَبْصَارُ
And never think that Allah is unaware of what the wrongdoers do. He only delays them for a Day when eyes will stare [in horror].

مُهْطِعِينَ مُقْنِعِي رُءُوسِهِمْ لَا يَرْتَدُّ إِلَيْهِمْ طَرْفُهُمْ ۖ وَأَفْئِدَتُهُمْ هَوَاءٌ
Racing ahead, their heads raised up, their glance does not come back to them, and their hearts are void.

وَأَنذِرِ النَّاسَ يَوْمَ يَأْتِيهِمُ الْعَذَابُ فَيَقُولُ الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا رَبَّنَا أَخِّرْنَا إِلَىٰ أَجَلٍ قَرِيبٍ نُّجِبْ دَعْوَتَكَ وَنَتَّبِعِ الرُّسُلَ ۗ أَوَلَمْ تَكُونُوا أَقْسَمْتُم مِّن قَبْلُ مَا لَكُم مِّن زَوَالٍ
And, [O Muhammad], warn the people of a Day when the punishment will come to them and those who did wrong will say, “Our Lord, delay us for a short term; we will answer Your call and follow the messengers.” [But it will be said], “Had you not sworn, before, that for you there would be no cessation?

وَسَكَنتُمْ فِي مَسَاكِنِ الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا أَنفُسَهُمْ وَتَبَيَّنَ لَكُمْ كَيْفَ فَعَلْنَا بِهِمْ وَضَرَبْنَا لَكُمُ الْأَمْثَالَ
And you lived among the dwellings of those who wronged themselves, and it had become clear to you how We dealt with them. And We presented for you [many] examples.”

وَقَدْ مَكَرُوا مَكْرَهُمْ وَعِندَ اللَّهِ مَكْرُهُمْ وَإِن كَانَ مَكْرُهُمْ لِتَزُولَ مِنْهُ الْجِبَالُ
And they had planned their plan, but with Allah is [recorded] their plan, even if their plan had been [sufficient] to do away with the mountains.

فَلَا تَحْسَبَنَّ اللَّهَ مُخْلِفَ وَعْدِهِ رُسُلَهُ ۗ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزِيزٌ ذُو انتِقَامٍ
So never think that Allah will fail in His promise to His messengers. Indeed, Allah is Exalted in Might and Owner of Retribution.

Volume 3, Book 43, Number 620:
Narrated Abu Said Al-Khudri (radiallaahu `anhu):
Allah’s Apostle (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) said, “When the believers pass safely over (the bridge across) Hell, they will be stopped at a bridge in between Hell and Paradise where they will retaliate upon each other for the injustices done among them in the world, and when they get purified of all their sins, they will be admitted into Paradise. By Him in Whose Hands the life of Muhammad (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) is everybody will recognize his dwelling in Paradise better than he recognizes his dwelling in this world.”

SubhanAllah, a person would think if he made it safely through the Bridge (Siraat), he’s done with the hardships of the Judgement Day. But no! Right before entering Paradise, there’s a tough one. Anyone you wronged will spot you there and retaliate; seeking revenge. The only currency you’d have to pay off people will be your good deeds. And you know what follows.

We really need to alter our ways. Never wrong a person even if it’s an insignificant matter. Don’t steal, deceive, bully, cheat, hurt, kill or be unjust in any way. Just remember, taking away someone’s right to something is zulm (oppression). If you get away with it in this dunya, you won’t get away with it in the aakhirah. Allah is only delaying the punishment till you’re standing in front of him barefoot and barehanded.
