Barakah in Trade (Hadith No. 1833)

Bismillah.

Volume 3, Book 34, Number 338 :
Narrated by Al-Miqdam bin Ma’diyakrib (radiallaahu `anhu)
The Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) said, “Measure your foodstuff and you will be blessed.”

It’s a very simple rule. No matter how much you’re tempted to make some extra money by fooling someone or giving the wrong measure, don’t do it. If you do, blessing (barakah) will be taken away from you. So even if you made a million dollars by being dishonest, you won’t find blessing in that wealth.

Honesty is the best policy. (y)

Greatest Blessing – Patience (Hadith No. 1247)

Bismillah.

Volume 2, Book 24, Number 548:

Narrated Abu Said Al-Khudri (radiallaahu `anhu):

Some Ansari persons asked for (something) from Allah’s Apostle (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) and he gave them. They again asked him for (something) and he again gave them. And then they asked him and he gave them again till all that was with him finished. And then he said “If I had anything. I would not keep it away from you. (Remember) Whoever abstains from asking others, Allah will make him contented, and whoever tries to make himself self-sufficient, Allah will make him self-sufficient. And whoever remains patient, Allah will make him patient. Nobody can be given a blessing better and greater than patience.”

It’s true. Patience is the greatest blessing one can have. You can endure the worst of trials with patience.

P.S. Allah is very good to me. He gives me what I need when I need it. These words of the Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) were exactly what I needed today. #love :’)

The Story Behind Tayammum (Hadith No. 330)

Salam,
Bismillah.

Kitaab-ut-Tayammum starts today, Alhamdulillah. Get the background story. It’s interesting. (Y)

Volume 1, Book 7, Number 330:

Narrated ‘Aisha (the wife of the Prophet):

We set out with Allahs Apostle on one of his journeys till we reached Al-Baida’ or Dhatul-Jaish, a necklace of mine was broken (and lost). Allah’s Apostle stayed there to search for it, and so did the people along with him. There was no water at that place, so the people went to Abu- Bakr As-Siddiq and said, “Don’t you see what ‘Aisha has done? She has made Allah’s Apostle and the people stay where there is no water and they have no water with them.” Abu Bakr came while Allah’s Apostle was sleeping with his head on my thigh, He said, to me: “You have detained Allah’s Apostle and the people where there is no water and they have no water with them.

So he admonished me and said what Allah wished him to say and hit me on my flank with his hand. Nothing prevented me from moving (because of pain) but the position of Allah’s Apostle on my thigh. Allah’s Apostle got up when dawn broke and there was no water. So Allah revealed the Divine verses of Tayammum. So they all performed Tayammum. Usaid bin Hudair said, “O the family of Abu Bakr! This is not the first blessing of yours.” Then the camel on which I was riding was caused to move from its place and the necklace was found beneath it.

What apparently seemed trouble was a blessing in reality. Happens a lot to us, don’t you think? Allah (SWT) says:

“..and it may be that you dislike a thing which is good for you and that you like a thing which is bad for you. Allah knows but you do not know.” [Al-Baqarah: 216]

Yeah, you don’t know. Trust Allah. He knows better. :)

Wassalam.

Barakah [A Blessed Thing] (Hadith No. 187)

Salam,
Bismillah.

Hadith no. 186 is repeated. Read it here.

Volume 1, Book 4, Number 187:

Narrated Abu Juhaifa:

Allah’s Apostle came to us at noon and water for ablution was brought to him. After he had performed ablution, the remaining water was taken by the people and they started smearing their bodies with it (as a blessed thing). The Prophet offered two Rakat of the Zuhr prayer and then two Rakat of the ‘Asr prayer while an ‘Anza (spear-headed stick) was there (as a Sutra) in front of him. Abu Musa said: The Prophet asked for a tumbler containing water and washed both his hands and face in it and then threw a mouthful of water in the tumbler and said to both of us (Abu Musa and Bilal), “Drink from the tumbler and pour some of its water on your faces and chests.”

A ‘rational’ person might not be able to understand this concept, but it’s not hard to comprehend for a believer. Why did people start smearing their bodies with the remaining water of ablution of the Prophet (SAW)? And why did the Prophet (SAW) asked Abu Musa and Bilal to drink and pour from the water in the tumbler? It was all for barakah. Blessing. :)
