Repaying in Full.. or More (Ahadith 1997 – 1998)

Bismillah.

Volume 3, Book 38, Number 501 :
Narrated by Abu Huraira (radiallaahu `anhu)
The Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) owed somebody a camel of a certain age. When he came to demand it back, the Prophet said (to some people), “Give him (his due).” When the people searched for a camel of that age, they found none, but found a camel one year older. The Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) said, “Give (it to) him.” On that, the man remarked, “You have given me my right in full. May Allah give you in full.” The Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) said, “The best amongst you is the one who pays the rights of others generously.”

Volume 3, Book 38, Number 502 :
Narrated by Abu Huraira (radiallaahu `anhu)
A man came to the Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) demanding his debts and behaved rudely. The companions of the Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) intended to harm him, but Allah’s Apostle (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) said (to them), “Leave him, for the creditor (i.e. owner of a right) has the right to speak.” Allah’s Apostle (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) then said, “Give him a camel of the same age as that of his.” The people said, “O Allah’s Apostle (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam)! There is only a camel that is older than his.” Allah’s Apostle (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) said, “Give (it to) him, for the best amongst you is he who pays the rights of others handsomely.”

It’s not just about debts. It’s about others’ rights in general. Try doing more for them than however much you owe them. This is Ihsaan, and Allah loves those who do Ishaan (2:195).

These Daughters (Hadith No. 1198)

Bismillah.

Volume 2, Book 24, Number 499:

Narrated Aisha:

A lady along with her two daughters came to me asking (for some alms), but she found nothing with me except one date which I gave to her and she divided it between her two daughters, and did not eat anything herself, and then she got up and went away. Then the Prophet came in and I informed him about this story. He said, “Whoever is put to trial by these daughters and he treats them generously (with benevolence) then these daughters will act as a shield for him from Hell-Fire.” (See Hadith No. 24, Vol. 8).

Okay, so the first thing I did was: read this Hadith out to my mother. :D

Something for the parents: if you raise your daughters giving them true values of Islam, only then will they know their worth. They’re no less than gems!

And why not? =D

Height of Generosity (Hadith No. 1066)

Bismillah.

Volume 2, Book 23, Number 367:

Narrated Sahl:

A woman brought a woven Burda (sheet) having edging (border) to the Prophet, Then Sahl asked them whether they knew what is Burda, they said that Burda is a cloak and Sahl confirmed their reply. Then the woman said, “I have woven it with my own hands and I have brought it so that you may wear it.” The Prophet accepted it, and at that time he was in need of it. So he came out wearing it as his waist-sheet. A man praised it and said, “Will you give it to me? How nice it is!” The other people said, “You have not done the right thing as the Prophet is in need of it and you have asked for it when you know that he never turns down anybody’s request.” The man replied, “By Allah, I have not asked for it to wear it but to make it my shroud.” Later it was his shroud.

Imagine it. A cloak that was just gifted to him, something that he actually needed.. he just gave it away on someone’s request. Just like that. How can someone do that? It’s just too amazing for me. I think generosity is a small word for Prophet (SAW). He was just too good. May Allah unite us with him in Paradise soon! <3
