Bismillah.
Volume 3, Book 34, Number 339 :
Narrated by ‘Abdullah bin Zaid (radiallaahu `anhu)
The Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) said, “The Prophet Abraham (`alayhissalaam) made Mecca a sanctuary, and asked for Allah’s blessing in it. I made Medina a sanctuary as Abraham (`alayhissalaam) made Mecca a sanctuary and I asked for Allah’s Blessing in its (Medina’s) measures the Mudd and the Sa’ as Abraham (`alayhissalaam) did for Mecca.
Volume 3, Book 34, Number 340 :
Narrated by Anas bin Malik (radiallaahu `anhu)
Allah’s Apostle (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) said, “O Allah bestow your blessings on their measures, bless their Mudd and Sa’.” The Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) meant the people of Medina.
Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) made du`a for Madinah as Ibraheem (`alayhissalaam) had made du`a for Makkah. He loved Makkah but Madinah was special for him. He was born in Makkah but he lived and died in Madinah. His house, his family, his work, his masjid were all in Madinah. It was his city. No wonder we call it Madinat-un-Nabi (City of the Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam)). :)
Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) asked Allah to put barakah in Madinah’s measures, as Ibraheem (`alayhissalaam) did for Makkah. Business must be awesome there. :D
