Adhaan for Jumu`ah Prayer (Ahadith 733 – 734)

Assalamu`alaykum,
Bismillah.

Volume 2, Book 13, Number 733:

Narrated As-Saib bin Yazid:

In the life-time of the Prophet, Abu Bakr and Umar, the Adhan for the Jumua prayer used to be pronounced when the Imam sat on the pulpit. But during the Caliphate of ‘Uthman when the Muslims increased in number, a third Adhan at Az-Zaura’ was added. Abu ‘Abdullah said, “Az-Zaura’ is a place in the market of Medina.”

Volume 2, Book 13, Number 734:

Narrated As-Saib bin Yazid:

The person who increased the number of Adhans for the Jumua prayers to three was Uthman bin Affan and it was when the number of the (Muslim) people of Medina had increased. In the life-time of the Prophet there was only one Muadh-dhin and the Adhan used to be pronounced only after the Imam had taken his seat (i.e. on the pulpit).

As to how many Adhaans should actually be called out for the Jumu`ah prayer, go do your own research. You might want to go through this.

Anyhow, there’s one Adhan and one Iqamah for the Jumu`ah prayer.

Wassalam.

What to Recite in `Ishaa’ Prayer? (Ahadith 733-736)

Salam,
Bismillah.

Volume 1, Book 12, Number 733:

Narrated Abu Rafi:

I offered the ‘Isha’ prayer behind Abu Huraira and he recited, “Idha-s-Sama’u-n-Shaqqat” (84) and prostrated. On my inquiring, he said, “I prostrated behind Abu-l-Qasim (the Prophet) (when he recited that Sura) and I will go on doing it till I meet him.”

Volume 1, Book 12, Number 734:

Narrated Al-Bara:

The Prophet was on a journey and recited in one of the first two Rakat of the ‘Isha’ prayer “Wat-tini waz-zaituni.” (95)

Volume 1, Book 12, Number 735:

Narrated Abu Rafi’:

Once I prayed the ‘Isha’ prayer with Abu Huraira and he recited, “Idha-s-Sama’ u-nShaqqat” (84) and prostrated. I said, “What is that?” He said, “I prostrated behind Abu-l-Qasim, (the Prophet) (when he recited that Sura) and I will go on doing it till I meet him.”

Volume 1, Book 12, Number 736:

Narrated Al-Bara:

I heard the Prophet reciting wat-tini wazzaituni” (95) in the ‘Isha’ prayer, and I never heard a sweeter voice or a better way of recitation than that of the Prophet.

  • Recite Surah al-Inshiqaaq in `Ishaa’ prayer.
  • While traveling, recite Surah at-Teen in `Ishaa’. It’s quite short. Travel-friendly. (y)
  • Recite in a sweet voice in Salah. Make it as ‘good’ as possible. :)
  • Learn the way of recitation of Prophet (SAW): Tajweed.
  • Keep following the Sunnah, and look forward to meeting Prophet (SAW) in Jannah iA.

Wassalam.
