How to Answer the Adhaan – II (Hadith No. 735)
Assalamu`alaykum,
Bismillah.
One way to answer the Adhaan is described here. There’s another way according to the Sunnah. It’s more or less the same as the previous one, just a slight change in the answer..
Volume 2, Book 13, Number 735:
Narrated Abu Umama bin Sahl bin Hunaif:
I heard Muawiya bin Abi Sufyan (repeating the statements of the Adhan) while he was sitting on the pulpit. When the Muadh-dhin pronounced the Adhan saying, “Allahu-Akbar, Allahu Akbar”, Muawiya said: “Allah Akbar, Allahu Akbar.” And when the Muadh-dhin said, “Ash-hadu an la ilaha illal-lah (I testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah)”, Muawiya said, “And (so do) I”. When he said, “Ash-hadu anna Muhammadan Rasulullah” (I testify that Muhammad is Allah’s Apostle), Muawiya said, “And (so do) I”. When the Adhan was finished, Muawiya said, “O people, when the Muadh-dhin pronounced the Adhan I heard Allah’s Apostle on this very pulpit saying what you have just heard me saying”.
“And (so do) I” is wa ‘ana (وأنا) in Arabic. Cool, eh? ;)
Wassalam.
What to Recite in `Ishaa’ Prayer? (Ahadith 733-736)
Salam,
Bismillah.
Volume 1, Book 12, Number 733:
Narrated Abu Rafi:
I offered the ‘Isha’ prayer behind Abu Huraira and he recited, “Idha-s-Sama’u-n-Shaqqat” (84) and prostrated. On my inquiring, he said, “I prostrated behind Abu-l-Qasim (the Prophet) (when he recited that Sura) and I will go on doing it till I meet him.”
Volume 1, Book 12, Number 734:
Narrated Al-Bara:
The Prophet was on a journey and recited in one of the first two Rakat of the ‘Isha’ prayer “Wat-tini waz-zaituni.” (95)
Volume 1, Book 12, Number 735:
Narrated Abu Rafi’:
Once I prayed the ‘Isha’ prayer with Abu Huraira and he recited, “Idha-s-Sama’ u-nShaqqat” (84) and prostrated. I said, “What is that?” He said, “I prostrated behind Abu-l-Qasim, (the Prophet) (when he recited that Sura) and I will go on doing it till I meet him.”
Volume 1, Book 12, Number 736:
Narrated Al-Bara:
I heard the Prophet reciting wat-tini wazzaituni” (95) in the ‘Isha’ prayer, and I never heard a sweeter voice or a better way of recitation than that of the Prophet.
- Recite Surah al-Inshiqaaq in `Ishaa’ prayer.
- While traveling, recite Surah at-Teen in `Ishaa’. It’s quite short. Travel-friendly. (y)
- Recite in a sweet voice in Salah. Make it as ‘good’ as possible. :)
- Learn the way of recitation of Prophet (SAW): Tajweed.
- Keep following the Sunnah, and look forward to meeting Prophet (SAW) in Jannah iA.
Wassalam.
