Repeats: Ahadith 736 – 737.
Narrated Abu Hazim bin Dinar:
Some people went to Sahl bin Sad As-Sa’idi and told him that they had different opinions regarding the wood of the pulpit. They asked him about it and he said, “By Allah, I know of what wood the pulpit was made, and no doubt I saw it on thy very first day when Allah’s Apostle I took his seat on it. Allah’s Apostle sent for such and such an Ansari woman (and Sahl mentioned her name) and said to her, ‘Order your slave-carpenter to prepare for me some pieces of wood (i.e. pulpit) on which I may sit at the time of addressing the people.’ So she ordered her slave-carpenter and he made it from the tamarisk of the forest and brought it (to the woman). The woman sent that (pulpit) to Allah’s Apostle who ordered it to be placed here. Then I saw Allah’s Apostle praying on it and then bowed on it. Then he stepped back, got down and prostrated on the ground near the foot of the pulpit and again ascended the pulpit. After finishing the prayer he faced the people and said, ‘I have done this so that you may follow me and learn the way I pray.’ “

I have done this so that you may follow me and learn the way I pray.
Understanding these words properly can suffice us inshaAllah. ^
What did Prophet (SAW) do but to teach us the right way to go about things? His life was a mission – to teach, to deliver the message. So learn. Learn. Learn! Learn from the Prophet (SAW). Learn from those who follow him. Learn from those who love him. Learn about him, his life, his mission, his journey, his everything.
`Ilm – giving or taking – is noble, bro. It honors a person. This is what made Adam (AS) the ‘best of creation’. Because this is how Allah (SWT) sort of defended him in this incident:
And [mention, O Muhammad], when your Lord said to the angels, “Indeed, I will make upon the earth a successive authority.” They said, “Will You place upon it one who causes corruption therein and sheds blood, while we declare Your praise and sanctify You?” Allah said, “Indeed, I know that which you do not know.”
And He taught Adam the names – all of them. Then He showed them to the angels and said, “Inform Me of the names of these, if you are truthful.”
They said, “Exalted are You; we have no knowledge except what You have taught us. Indeed, it is You who is the Knowing, the Wise.”
He said, “O Adam, inform them of their names.” And when he had informed them of their names, He said, “Did I not tell you that I know the unseen [aspects] of the heavens and the earth? And I know what you reveal and what you have concealed.”
[Surah al-Baqarah: 30-33]
And this is why the angels were made to bow down (in honor) before him. This `Ilm. So learn, will you?
P.S. ‘learning’ and ‘gathering information’ are two different things. Look it up. :)
Narrated Ibn Umar:
The Prophet (p.b.u.h) said, “Allow women to go to the Mosques at night.”
Narrated Ibn Umar:
One of the wives of Umar (bin Al-Khattab) used to offer the Fajr and the ‘Isha’ prayer in congregation in the Mosque. She was asked why she had come out for the prayer as she knew that Umar disliked it, and he has great ghairah (self-respect). She replied, “What prevents him from stopping me from this act?” The other replied, “The statement of Allah’s Apostle (p.b.u.h) : “Do not stop Allah’s women-slaves from going to Allah’s Mosques” prevents him.”

How often do we give in to Allah and His Messenger (SAW)’s commands? When we want one thing and Shari`ah wants something else from us, what do we give preference to? Our desires or the Deen?
You see, Umar (RA) disliked her wives going to the mosque too often, but he never forbade them because of the statement of Allah’s Messenger (SAW). He had THAT sort of control over himself. Like wow!
