The ‘Bukhari’ Project

I got an idea! And I’m definitely holding on to it. Just like Imaam Bukhari. :D

I’m going through a part of Sahih Bukhari in a course. In the beginning, we learnt about Imaam Bukhari’s life and works. What an amazing personality!

One thing (and a LOT more) inspired me: to memorize a Hadith, he used to bring it to practice, even if he didn’t have any particular interest in the discussed matter. For example, there’s this Hadith which talks about teaching our children swimming and archery and horse riding. Just to act upon it, he took archery exercises, even though he didn’t have much liking for it.

So, I plan to go through the whole Sahih Bukhari and act upon each of the Ahadith. I’ll be sharing my experiences with you as well: how I decided to act upon the Hadith, what did I learn, how did I benefit etc. It’ll be an awesome experience inshaAllah and I don’t want to keep it to myself.

Current target: one Hadith a day.

One thing. I need to clarify my intention right now (mostly to keep a check on myself). This project is just a little something I’ll have to present to Allah on the Day of Judgement and hope He’ll grant me salvation + success when I most need it, inshaAllah.

(Imaam Bukhari made almost the same intention when compiling Sahih Bukhari. :) )

Why did I make an intention? Let’s just say there are two ways of doing things:

– just like that

– due to a reason/ with a purpose

For example, I’m going to sleep.. I can go to sleep ‘just cuz’ and I can make the intention of getting some rest and have a fresh start to the next day and do maximum ‘Ibadah/ good deeds.

What’s better?

Join me on this journey of ‘Ilm and ‘Amal. Your ideas and comments will be highly appreciated.

Jazakum Allah.

May Allah accept our efforts from us. Ameen.

  1. AA! :)
Feels great to have come across this project. I kind of had the same idea. Only i’m engaged in my quran blog at the moment, and decided to leave this for later. Is there any way we can combine our blogs? After all, Quran and hadith would remain the flavor-of-the-decade together till the end of times. i mean what do you think of the idea?

  2. You already found your way around. thanks for the comment, btw :)
i’m planning to host your bukhari posts complete with credits and links referring the users to you. hit back if that’s okay with you.

    • That’d be great. I’m thinking a way to import your blog as well. Let me come up with something..
Plus, do give me ideas for improvement as well. I need it!
And can we find another place to chit chat? :P

      • Sure. are you on facebook? i’m already following you on twitter.
And as for improvement, you’re already doing a pretty good job, Masha Allah. There’s just this one snag that i found: it gets difficult to read the hadith text in italics. would be better if you straighten em. that’s just my personal opinion. Dunno bout other readers.
Anyway, are you my canadian counterpart? :P

  3. Hmm. I am on Facebook. http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=581496263
And I’ll change the font, iA.
Pakistani counterpart would be the right word. ;)

  4. May Allah reward you, Ameen

this subject and didn’t know who to ask.

  21. Assalamu’alaikum,

So I’ve recently come across the website: http://www.sunnah.com
I absolutely love the search function on the website since it allows you to search both in English and in “transliteration” form. I tried it with “khushoo”. Anyways, I thought it would be a useful tool for your blog posts. Also, if you want an easy way to post the Arabic of each hadith, the site has the Arabic as well.

May Allah SWT reward you for all your efforts and all those striving in His path. Ameen.

    Wasalamu’alaikum warahmatullah
