Love for the Good (Hadith No. 750)
Salam, Bismillah.
Volume 1, Book 12, Number 750:
Narrated Abu Bakra:
I reached the Prophet in the mosque while he was bowing in prayer and I too bowed before joining the row. I mentioned it to the Prophet and he said to me, “May Allah increase your love for the good. But do not repeat it again (bowing in that way).”
Sometimes people get a bit too enthusiastic while doing something for the Deen. They might do something wrong in that craze or cross a boundary unwillingly. The way to deal with them is not to be harsh nor discourage them. That would be very unwise! And I see it happen a lot as well, sadly.
Prophet (SAW) responded to Abu Bakra’s action starting with a positive note. He gave him a du`a, and what a beautiful du`a it was! <3
زادك الله حرصا
“May Allah increase your love for the good.”
After encouraging him, he (SAW) told him not to repeat this action again because it’s not the right way to join Salah. One must join the saff (row) and then join the congregation with takbir.
May Allah give us the wisdom and knowledge that Prophet (SAW) left for us. For truly, that is the only thing we get to inherit from him. :)
Wassalam.

Jazak illah khair. Very very important point derived from this hadith:
“Sometimes people get a bit too enthusiastic while doing something for the Deen. They might do something wrong in that craze or cross a boundary unwillingly. The way to deal with them is not to be harsh nor discourage them. That would be very unwise! And I see it happen a lot as well, sadly.”
Because of this Rasul Allah (s) advised:
“Everybody has his time of energy, and every time of energy is followed by a time of lethargy. But if a person tries to follow a moderate path, then I have hope for him, but if he becomes one who is pointed out (in the street), then do not think anything of him.”
(Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 2453; classed as hasan by al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Tirmidhi, 1995).
“But if a person tries to follow a moderate path” means that the one who has energy does his deeds in moderation and avoids going to extremes when he is feeling energetic and avoids being negligent when he is feeling lethargic.
Many of us get over excited when we come into deen and indulge into so much without even seeing if we possess the required ability or knowledge to do so or not. Deliberation, while in a great state of eman is very very important. Allah Almighty taught us moderation and deliberation through His own amal. Strange? Ibn Qayyim when asked about the question “Why did Allah create the Heavens & Earth in 6 days when He could have created in split seconds by saying “KUN FAYA KOON”?
One of the reasons, among 6,7 reasons that Ibn Qayyim (r) mentioned while answering this was:
“Allah wanted to teach His creation deliberation & moderation. And this is a GREAT parable. If Rabbul Aalameen, the One free from all faults is adopting deliberation, then how about us, full of faults human beings?”
