Fear the Oppressed [Du’aas Against Enemy Included] (Hadith No. 2125)
Bismillah.
Volume 3, Book 43, Number 628:
Narrated Ibn ‘Abbas (radiallaahu `anhu):
The Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) sent Mu’adh to Yemen and said, “Be afraid, from the curse of the oppressed as there is no screen between his invocation and Allah.”
That simply means that if he asks Allah to destroy the oppressor in the worst way possible, Allah might be very quick to accept his dua. So be afraid!
Help The Oppressor (Ahadith 2120 – 2121)
Bismillah.
Allah says in the Quran:
“…And do not help one another in sin and oppression; and be careful of (your duty to) Allah; surely Allah is severe in requiting evil.” [5:2]
Isn’t there a conflict between this ayah and the title of the post? Well, not really.
Volume 3, Book 43, Number 623:
Narrated Anas bin Malik (radiallaahu `anhu):
Allah’s Apostle (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) said, “Help your brother, whether he is an oppressor or he is an oppressed one.”
Volume 3, Book 43, Number 624:
Narrated Anas (radiallaahu `anhu):
Allah’s Apostle (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) said, “Help your brother, whether he is an oppressor or he is an oppressed one. People asked, “O Allah’s Apostle (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam)! It is all right to help him if he is oppressed, but how should we help him if he is an oppressor?” The Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) said, “By preventing him from oppressing others.”
Yes, even the oppressor needs help. Help him stop his zulm in this dunya, so Allah doesn’t punish him in the aakhirah! You are his brother in Islam, and it is upon you to help him.
Allah’s Apostle said, “Whoever has oppressed another person concerning his reputation or anything else, he should beg him to forgive him before the Day of Resurrection when there will be no money (to compensate for wrong deeds), but if he has good deeds, those good deeds will be taken from him according to his oppression which he has done, and if he has no good deeds, the sins of the oppressed person will be loaded on him.”{Volume 3, Book 43, Number 629: Sahih Bukhari}
And that ^ is something we all need to fear. May Allah protect us from oppression – whether it’s at the giving end or the receiving one.
That Cat You Tortured.. (Ahadith 2049 – 2050)
Bismillah.
Volume 3, Book 40, Number 552 :
Narrated by Asma’ bint Abi Bakr (radiallaahu `anhaa)
The Prophet (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) prayed the eclipse prayer, and then said, “Hell was displayed so close that I said, ‘O my Lord ! Am I going to be one of its inhabitants?”‘ Suddenly he saw a woman, I think he said, who was being scratched by a cat. He said, “What is wrong with her?” He was told, “She had imprisoned it (i.e. the cat) till it died of hunger.”
Volume 3, Book 40, Number 553 :
Narrated by ‘Abdullah bin ‘Umar (radiallaahu `anhu)
Allah’s Apostle (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) said, “A woman was tortured and was put in Hell because of a cat which she had kept locked till it died of hunger.” Allah’s Apostle (sallallaahu `alayhi wasallam) further said, (Allah knows better) Allah said (to the woman), ‘You neither fed it nor watered when you locked it up, nor did you set it free to eat the insects of the earth.”
Something that might not seem very unrighteous can be huge in the sight of Allah. One might think “so what if I teased an animal a bit?” The answer is, you wronged a weak one. You had power over it that it did not have over you. And Allah does not reject the plight of the weak and oppressed. The Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said:
Three people’s du’as are never rejected: the one who is fasting, until he breaks his fast; the just ruler; and the one who has been wronged. Allah raises it above the clouds, and the doors of the skies are opened for it, and the Lord says, ‘By my Honour and Glory! I will help you, even if it be after some time!’
(Recorded in al-Tirmidhi)
We must be careful in our treatment of animals and all other living beings in general. Don’t think you can wrong someone and get away with it.
