‘Faraq’ (Hadith No. 250)

Bismillah.

Volume 1, Book 5, Number 250:

Narrated ‘Aisha:

The Prophet and I used to take a bath from a single pot called ‘Faraq’.

Points to notice:

• No discrimination whatsoever. Husband can use the left-overs of his wife and vice versa.
• One pot was enough for two people to take a bath. What excellent water-savers they were!
• It somehow implies the spouses taking a bath/shower together.
• Taking a bath from a tub/bucket/pot full of water is a Sunnah. Shower can be used too, of course.
